Recognition characters:
Blackish species;
11–13 mm
; mystax dense white, confined to oral margin; thorax black, bristles mostly black, but some yellowish to brownish; three pairs of scutellar bristles on margin, one pair brownish, the others black; fore and middle coxae of legs reddish, with dense white setae in males, shorter and more scattered in females; femora black with very short recumbent yellowish setae; abdomen ground color black basal one-half to two-thirds and red apical one-third to one-half.
