Diagnosis.
3.9-4.0 mm long (mean = 3.92 mm; n = 3); 2.79-3.25
x
as long as wide. This species can be recognized by the unique elytral mycangium appearing as a distinct impressed area immediately adjacent to the scutellum on each elytron, its posterior margin distinctly raised; large size, pronotum from dorsal view appearing subquadrate (type 3); declivity steeply sloping, occupying apical 3/4 of elytra; and elytral disc flat and transverse.

Remarks.
Xyleborus tristis
is here transferred to
Heteroborips
because of the distinct elytral mycangia adjacent to the scutellum on each elytron.
