HOLOTYPE : AMNH 395868 , adult female, collected at El Progreso , 14°51′N , 90°01′W (Times Atlas), Guatemala , on 30 October 1924 , by A.W. Anthony (no. 997). From the Dwight Collection (no. 58781). COMMENTS : The Dwight Collection number of the holotype was given in the original description. Griscom (1930a: 7) stated that he had 30 specimens from Progreso ; 21 of the paratypes are AMNH 395848–395867 and 395869. Other paratypes were retained by MCZ . Selander (1964: 232) synonymized xerophilus with Camplyorhynchus rufinucha capistratus . The AMNH number of this holotype was given incorrectly in Dickerman (1987: 72) .
