Miles from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, author of more than 200 scientific studies, mostly about Trypanosoma cruzi , Triatominae , Chagas disease and leishmaniasis. He implemented a cooperation agreement between the Wellcome Trust, the London School and the Evandro Chagas Institute in 1977, making it possible to carry out studies on the ecoepidemiology of reservoir mammals and wild Triatominae , and on the biochemical characterization of T. cruzi into two subdivisions ( ZI and ZII), today known as T. cruzi I and T. cruzi II ( Valente, Valente, Carcavallo, Rocha, Galvão & Jurberg 2001 : 69).
