Chironomus toyamabiceus Sasa, 1996 : 21 . syn. n. Specimen examined: Japan : Toyama Pref., Family Park , holotype of Chironomus toyamabiceus , 21. ix. 1993 , M. Sasa [specimen No. 273:001 (NSMT-I-Dip-4963)] . The following characters are recognized in the holotype of Chironomus toyamabiceus : small blackish spot on the median portion of scutum; inferior volsella large, oval and flattened; superior volsella long, horn like, with several setae on its basal portion. These features are completely consistent with those of Kiefferulus umbraticola .
