Type material. Germany ( Berlin ). Records from Vietnam. Cao Bang (Thach An) ( Le 1995a ). Distribution. Japan , Korea , Russia ; also introduced into USA and Vietnam ( Easton 1981 ; Blakemore 2007a ). Vietnamese name. Giun hilgendof. Remarks. This is a temperate species distributed in Japan , Korea and Russia , and with no records so far from China . Further examination was not possible because all previously collected material has been lost. Le (1995a) noted that the population recorded in Vietnam has stable characters for M. hilgendorfi , for example: two pairs of spermathecal pores in 6/7/8, a pair of large genital markings behind the setal ring of xviii, and manicate intestinal caeca. However, due to the fact that this species is found outside its known areas, the records in Vietnam require confirmation with fresh reference material. Blakemore (2007a) recommended to allocate the species in Metaphire instead of Amynthas due to the occasional presence of copulatory pouches in several populations.
