Type material. Holotype (NMNS-Mo 70682), 3 paratypes (NMNS-Mo 70683 and 70772). Type locality. Suruga Bay , off Heda , Japan , 34°58′ N , 138°44.2′ E , 370–400 m . Material examined. Taiwan , off Tashi, Fishing Boat Chung Tung Long No. 26 , “ TAIWAN 2001”, stn CP115, 24°53.9′ N , 122°02.0′ E , 381–440 m , 1 spm, BL 3.0 mm, 21.05.2001 . Distribution. Japan (Otsuchi Bay , Sagami Sea, Suruga Bay and Tosa Bay ) ( 85–400 m : Saito 2011 ) and Taiwan ( 381–440 m ). This species is reported from Taiwan waters for the first time and this extends the distribution of this species considerably. Remarks. The specimen collected near Taiwan is very similar to the holotype from the Suruga Bay , except of the distance between the granules in the central areas of intermediate valves and in the antemucronal area of the tail valve. The granules are arranged in imbricating longitudinal rows in the holotype and are arranged in longitudinal rows separated by a distance equal to the width of the granules in the Taiwan specimen. The studied specimen (stn CP115, BL 3.0 mm) has six gills on each side; the radula is 1.3 mm long with 33 transverse rows of mature teeth.
