Diagnosis . Body almost uniformly pale yellow or white ( Fig. 4 ), but anterior part of head dark anterior to ocellar triangle, and fore tibiae shaded on basal half; antennal segments largely brown, segments I and II darker than remaining segments, V–VI slightly paler on basal half; fore wing including clavus uniformly dark, veinal setae slightly shaded; legs almost pale except fore tibiae; major body setae pale. Head with small dots or wrinkles between sculpture lines. Pronotum smooth between transverse lines, with 7 or 8 discal setae subequal in length to S1 and S2 setae, S4 setae distinctly longer than remaining setae, S3 setae usually much longer than S1 and S2 setae. Abdominal tergites smooth between small longitudinal ridges arising from transverse lines; tergite I reticulate having internal small longitudinal lines at middle; tergite IX with median two pairs of setae arranged transversely, all major setae not stout, S3 setae as slender as S1 and S2 setae ( Fig.42 ); sternites without distinct longitudinal ridge and microtrichia although weak ridges or microtrichia present on posterior segments. Comments . In Japan , this species and P. mori are common in Morus , but P. bhattii is also found on other Moraceae such as Ficus and Humulus . Moreover, this species seems to be more widely distributed, from Hokkaido to Okinawa , than the latter species. P. bhattii is very similar to P. darci , described from Australia , in the pale body with a dark area on anterior part of head and dark fore wing, but they are distinguishable by the above key. This species is newly recorded from Taiwan . Specimens examined . JAPAN: Honshu, Kanagawa Pref., Hayama-cho, Mt. Futago-yama, 1 male on leaves of Humulus japonicus [ Moraceae ], 15. ix. 2007 , M.
