Munier-Chalmas 1897 : 86. Type horizon. Late Danian, Paleocene. Type locality. "Mons" ( Briart and Cornet 1873 : 71), Belgium. Remarks. Introduced for Melania buccinoidea sensu Briart & Cornet, 1873, "non Ferussac" (actually it should read "non Olivier, 1801"). Junior homonym, as well as junior objective synonym of Melanopsis briarti Cossmann, 1888. Obviously, Munier-Chalmas overlooked that the name had already been introduced for the very same misidentified taxon by Cossmann.
