Figures 7 , 8E–F , 14 Type material. Female holotype from Sri Lanka , Central Province , Mudduk, 8 km ( 5 miles ) NW Nuwara-Eliya, 1676 m ( 5500 ft ) a.s.l., 4.III.1962 , (CASENT9024152), deposited in Lund University. Etymology. The species epithet is a noun in apposition from the type locality. Diagnosis. Females of C. mudduk can be distinguished from those of other species by the shape of the epigynal structures, the presence of a broad and slightly sclerotized epigynal plate, with a small median lobe plate and curved copulatory openings; epigynal teeth arise on posterior margin ( Figs 7C , 8E ). Internally, the copulatory ducts are enlarged and form two loops before entering the spermathecae ( Fig. 7C, D ). Spermathecae small with few protuberances ( Fig. 8F ). FIGURE 7. Female ( holotype ): Total length 7.30. Markings as in Fig. 7A, B . Carapace 3.80 long, 2.85 wide, 1.60 high; clypeus 0.12 high. Eye diameters: AME 0.14, ALE 0.17, PME 0.16, PLE 0.20. Chelicerae 1.80 long; sternum 1.80 long, 1.50 wide; labium 0.80 long; palpal coxae 1.40 long. Spination as in genus description. Leg measurements (Femur + Patella + Tibia + Metatarsus + Tarsus = [Total]): I: 2.90 + 1.40 + 2.30 + 2.10 + 1.40 = 10.10; II: 2.90 + 1.35 + 2.15 + 2.00 + 1.30 = 9.70; III: 2.50 + 1.10 + 1.90 + 2.30 + 1.20 = 9.00; IV: 3.20 + 1.20 + 2.45 + 3.70 + 1.60 = 12.15. Leg formula 4123. Epigynum: oval median lobe; lateral lobes with small teeth ( Fig. 8E ). Vulva with elongated and sinuous copulatory ducts; spermathecae large, with projections and small fertilization ducts ( Fig. 8F ). Male . Unknown. Material examined. Only the type. Natural history: The holotype was collected at 1700 m elevation at Ramboda Pass near a fast running stream in “primeval forest” (Brinck et al. 1971: 32). Distribution. Known only from the type locality at Mudduk near Nuwara Eliya in Sri Lanka ( Fig. 14 ).
