Based on the original description, I have selected a beetle from Spain as lectotype : Il se trouve en Espagne , en Italie . . This species was treated as a member of the subgenus Incisophonus Sciaky, 1987 characterized by male protarsomeres notably dilated, aedeagus “aberrant” notably curved to right, elytra notably emarginate apically, etc. ( Sciaky, 1987 ). Additionally, the species is easily identified by a large body size and a cordiform pronotum. Keys to identify it are found in Jeannel (1942) , Antoine (1959) , Sciaky (1987) , etc. It is distributed in Mediterranean Europe, Turkey and Morocco ( Kataev & Wrase, 2017c ).
