Type material examined ( Pleophylla brenskei Brancsik, 1892 ): Syntype : 1 Ψ "coll. Brenske / Type / cotyp von Branscik erhalten / Pleophylla Brenskei m. / Nossibe" ( ZMHB ). Remarks. Pleophylla brenskei was chosen as type species of Phylloserica since Brenske examined type material of the species (a syntype is in the Brenske collection at the ZMHB). The original description of Pleophylla brenskei was based on four specimens. Since the syntype in the collection of Brenske is a female (and not a male as stated by Brenske [1900] ) I will refrain from designating a lectotype until the rest of the type series is examined. Even though Brenske (1899) listed " Candezei " as one of the species in Phylloserica , it was only in 1900 that he made the name " Phylloserica candezei " available.
