Canthidermis sufflamen
(Mitchill, 1815)
—Ocean triggerfish
New record for Madeira. The species appears to have been absent from Madeira until a few years ago. Since 2003 (if not earlier) it regularly appears in Funchal fish market (figure 7) and the fishermen state that it has been caught in Madeira waters. The first author has seen the species during a SCUBA dive at Caniço, south-eastern coast of Madeira. MMF 35194, 35590, 35664.
