Type species. Aricidea catherinae Laubier, 1967 . Diagnosis (after Blake 2016 ): Prostomium pear-shaped to oval, with rounded anterior margin; antenna simple, unbranched, inarticulate. Posterior lip of mouth extending through ventral surface of first two chaetigers. Capillary noto- and neurochaetae of postbranchial segments of the same thickness. Modified neurochaetae heavy, curved spines with or without accessory filaments, teeth, bristles, or sheaths, always thicker than notochaetae and accompanying capillary neurochaetae.
