Holotype , (USNM), USA : Texas : Gonzales County , Palmetto State Park , 17.IV.1970 , Board V.V. Type in fairly good condition, head detached from body and glued on triangle with one antenna, one antenna, both front legs but coxae and right middle leg missing. Description (features not described by Whitfield (1988) , or differently interpreted sculpturing—original states are in parentheses). Head . Frons weakly excavated behind torulli. Head areolate-rugulose (not finely granular), face rugulose or rugulose-lacunose, gena and malar space mostly smooth. Mesosoma . Pronotum besides ventral groove shining weakly rugulose (not granulate). Propleuron mostly smooth, weakly rugulose near borders. Mesopleuron mostly polished laterally, and devoid of setae. Metapleuron rugose with small polished spot anteriorly. Mesoscutum and scutellum densely foveolate to rugulose-lacunose. Mesoscutellar trough and metanotum rugose costate. Propodeum with several well-defined carina, most areas enclosed by carina smooth and polished. Legs . Hind coxa smooth and mostly devoid of setae except ventrally. Dorsal sulcus on mid coxa present. The numerous minute black and short spines described by Whitfield (1988) correspond to an insertion of setae in the exoskeleton. Wings . Fore wing vein r present and very short, connected to stigma beyond middle, 2RS and 3RSa not connected with stigma, vein r 0.1× stigma height, R1 0.36× stigma length. Comments . Paradelius nigra differs from P. rubra by having the body entirely black, and vein r present (although very short), as compared with mostly orangish brown body and vein r absent in P. rubra . It differs from P. rubra and P. neotropicalis sp. n. in having a shorter scape (shorter than pedicel and first flagellomere combined). This species is most similar to P. neotropicalis . More detailed comparison on these two species is found in the comments under the description of P. neotropicalis . Distribution . U.S.A. : Texas . Biology . Unknown.
