Diagnosis
This species is placed in the
excerptalis
group on the basis of the genital structure.
S. linguatella
is similar to
S. flavidorsalis
, but differs in forewing maculation: ochreous, with a dark fuscous spot at the lower angle of the cell in
S. flavidorsalis
, white, without any spots in
S. linguatella
. In the genitalia, the subteguminal process of
S. linguatella
is lobelike and linguiform, while in
S. flavidorsalis
it is tuberculate; three cornuti present in
S. linguatella
, while only one cornutus present in
S. flavidorsalis
; the length of tegumen in
S. linguatella
is longer than that in
S. flavidorsalis
.
Description
Male: Expanse

. Head and thorax white. Labial palpus produced forward, length approximately 3 times diameter of compound eye. Forewing white, underside fuscous, with vein

; hindwing white, underside pale fuscous. Genitalia with uncus and gnathos slender, gnathos bent towards uncus; tegumen with dorsal sclerotized thickening Xshaped; subteguminal process lobelike, linguiform, weakly sclerotized; valva relatively short; juxta platelike; coremata present; aedeagus slender, swollen in apical 1/3; manica with two groups of spines; three platelike cornuti.
