Type species Belisana tauricornis Thorell, 1898 , by original designation. Diagnosis. This genus resembles Spermophora , but can be distinguished by the dorsal apophysis on the pedipalpal femur (usually present; Figs 2 , 13 ), by the absence of posterior pockets on the female opisthosoma, by the absence of sclerotized ventral flaps on the procursus, and by the absence of serrated bulbal apophyses ( Huber 2005a ). This genus can be distinguished from Spermophorides Wunderlich, 1992 by the absence of pockets on the posterior epigynal plate and by the regular attachment site (i.e. rather proximal than distal) of the procursus on the cymbium ( Figs 1–2 , 12–13 ; Huber 2007 ).
