Monoxenous species inhabiting quills of secondary feathers of Remiz pendulinus . Distribution. Poland . Etymology. The name remizus refers to the generic name of the host. Diffrential diagnosis. Neoaulonastus remizus is morphologically similar to N. bisetatus . In females of both species, the hysteronotal shield is present; setae f2 are no more than 3 times longer than f1 ; each vertical branch of the peritremes has 7–8 chambers and aggenital setae ag1 are longer than ag2 . This new species is distinguished from N. bisetatus , by the presence of the following characters: in females of N. remizus , the total body length is 500; setae f2 are 3 times longer than f1 ; the length ratio of setae ag1 : ag2 : ag3 is 2:1:2.3; in males, the total body length is 350; the hysteronotal shield is not fused to the pygidial shield. In females of N. bisetatus , the total body length is 590–615; setae f2 are 2.3 times longer than f1 ; the length ratio of setae ag1 : ag2 : ag3 is 1.3–1.4:1:1.5–1.8; in males, the total body length is 405–460 and the hysteronotal shield is fused to the pygidial shield.
