Diagnosis.
FEMALE. Medium-sized mites, total body length 630–900.
Gnathosoma
. Hypostomal apex with one pair of long, sharp-ended protuberances. Two pairs of sausage-like hypostomal lips present. Lateral hypostomal teeth absent. Peritremes M-shaped, each branch with clearly visible chambers. Movable cheliceral digit dentate, each with 3 teeth. Stylophore constricted posteriorly.

. Propodonotal shield without pocket-like structures, entire or divided longitudinaly. Six pairs of propodonotal setae present, arranged 3–1–2 or 3–1–1–1. Setae

Presently, the world fauna of this genus includes 7 species described from the Palaearctic (5 species), Nearctic (1), Ethiopian (1) and Australian (1) regions. The Palaearctic fauna comprises:
