Biology.
Forests, floodplains, ruderal habitats. Adults occur in IV–VII. Feeds mostly on
Urtica dioica
(Urticaceae)
, but recorded from many other plants.
Note
. This polymorphous species is represented by two subspecies occasionally considered as separate species:
Ph. pomaceus pomaceus
occurring in Europe, and
Ph
.
pomaceus fessus
Boh.
occurring in Siberia.
Ph
.
fessus
has recently been recorded from
Poland
, that obviously based on misidentified specimens of
Ph. jacobsoni
.
