Bichromomyia olmeca olmeca is a recognized vector of human cutaneous leishmaniasis in Mexico ( Biagi 1965 ). Ibáñez-Bernal (2002) reported this species from Veracruz, specifically from Coyolar and Emiliano Zapata (Municipality of Ixhuatlán del Sureste), and from Zapotal (Municipality of Minatitlán). We did not find this species in the collections taken during this work.
