A. laurindoi sp. n. differs from other species by the combination of the following characters: Male —tapered megaseta, dorsal lobe absent, aedeagal blade with broad base and aedeagal complex completely covered by anal point; Pupa —apex of aeropyle tube club-shaped, thoracic horn with spines in the outer lateral, dorsal pore in A IV between setae D 3 and D 5 , genital sac 360 µm long, wing sheath with spots and complete veins; Larva —head capsule elongated and without spots, ligula teeth in concave arch, dorsal pore present, posterior parapod with 3 brown claws, procercus brown and with 7 anal setae. Etymology. Named in honour of Dr. Fábio Laurindo da Silva, for his contribution to the knowledge of Neotropical Tanypodinae . Male (n = 5, unless otherwise stated): Dimensions : Total length 4.59–5.12 mm . Wing length 2.37–2.56 mm . Total length/wing length 1.86–2.05. Wing length/length of profemur 2.64–2.73. Coloration ( Figs 43A–E , 44A ): wing and thorax follow figures 43A and 43B. Legs: P I , P II, P III —femora with 3 bands, tibiae with 3 bands. P III –coxa with 6 central microsetae; apex of tibia 57.60– 65 µm wide and with 2 apical pectinated spurs 63–73 and 55–65 µm long, spurs ratio 0.69–0.72 and 0.67–0.75 respectively. Hypopygium ( Fig. 44A–D ): tergite IX with 4 central setae; anal point completely covers the aedeagal complex; phallapodeme 7.,50–75 µm long; sternapodeme 130–143 µm long; gonocoxite 155–163 µm long and 103 µm wide; gonostylus 178–188 µm long, with 4–5 apical teeth; tapered megaseta; HR 0.85–0.92; HV 2.56–2.89. Aedeagal complex: grooved aedeagal blade 45–50 µm long, base 23–28 µm, 9/10 7.5 µm; dorsal lobe absent, lateral lobe and basidorsal lobe present. Female : unknown. Pupa (n = 2, unless otherwise stated): Dimensions : male abdomen 4.12–4.18 mm long. Coloration ( Fig. 45A–C ): exuviae brown, wing sheath with spots. Cephalothorax ( Fig. 45A ): wing sheath 1.65–1.70 mm long and with complete veins; thoracic horn 575–579 µm long and 240 µm wide, lumen with hexagonal pattern, spines present on the base and sides, apex of aeropyle tube club-shaped; thoracic comb with 14 conical teeth. Abdomen ( Fig. 45B, C ): shagreen absent; scar in A I 225 µm long; A IV chaetotaxy follow figure 45B, dorsal pore between setae D 3 and D 5 ; A VII with 4 lateral setae, LS 1 140 µm long; A VIII with 5 lateral setae, LS 1 98 µm long; anal lobe 469–471 µm long, base 110 µm wide, with 2 anal macrosetae LS 1 213 µm long, LS 2 268 µm long, outer side with spines; genital sac shorter than the anal lobe, 360 µm long; GS/AL 0.77. Larva (n = 2, unless otherwise stated): Dimensions : head capsule 1000 µm long and 570 µm wide. Coloration ( Fig. 46A–E ): head capsule yellow; postoccipital margin brown; ligula teeth brown; procercus yellow; ligula teeth brown, procercus brown, posterior parapod with 16 claws, 3 hooked claws brown and 13 simple claws yellow. Head Capsule ( Fig. 46A–D ): elongated, IC 0.63, chaetotaxy follow the figure 46A; AR 4.61, antennomeres 1,2-4 : 605, 131 µm long; ring organ in A 1 320 µm from the base; maxillary palp with 2 segments, palpomeres 1-2 : 60 and 45 µm long; palpal formula 0+2, P 1 /P 2 1.33, A 1 /P 1 10.08, A 2 /P 1 1.93; mandible 155 µm long, with campaniform sensillum 33 mm from the base, A 1 /MD 3.90; dorsomental tooth 40 mm long and far apart 80 mm , pseudoradula slightly granulated and with homogeneous width; ligula 107.5 mm long and 75 mm wide, with 5 teeth in concave arch, It/O 0.91; Mt/O 0.82; It/Li 0.23; muscle attachment of ligula 37.5 µm long and 91 mm wide; bifid paraligula 57.5 µm long, pectin hypopharyngis with 18 teeth. Abdomen ( Fig. 46E ): procercus 135 µm long and 34 µm wide, 7 anal setae 825 µm long; supraanal seta simple and 425 µm long; supraanal seta lenght/ anal setae lenght 0.52; posterior parapods with 13 simple claws with the serrated sides and 3 hooked claws, with the smooth sides, claw with truncated base present, tip of posterior parapods with spines.
