Identification.
This is a medium-sized frog with a SVL of
27.6–38.9 mm
. It has a light- or dark-brown dorsum and cream venter. There are abundant tubercles on the
back and differs from
Scinax tsachila
which has no tubercles on the back and by the visibility of the calf bones visible through the skin (
Read et al. 2019
).
Between 17:30 and 21:30, this species was only found near the pond at site B, where an auditory recording was made.
Distribution.
This species is distributed in the Pacific lowlands of
Colombia
and
Ecuador
(
Frost 2016
). In
Ecuador
, it is found in the provinces of
Esmeraldas
,
Pichincha
,
Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas
,
Manabí
,
Los Ríos
,
Guayas
,
Cañar
, and
El Oro
