Moricand did not state on how many specimens his description was based. This species was hitherto considered as belonging to
Leiostracus

, but this small-sized species with its fine, axial riblets which superficially appear as colour streaks, and the dark patch around the umbilicus is here placed in the genus
Drymaeus
