Distribution The species was recorded from Caucasus, Turkey, Iran, and Middle Asia ( Nikolajev 1987 ). The range of it is unclear since it is difficult to separate from the closely-related and very similar Aphodius melanostictus . Some published records of Aphodius clathratus apparently belong to Aphodius melanostictus .
