From the generic name Carabus [ q.v .] and the Greek soma (body), alluding to the resemblance of adults to those of some Carabus (" forme rappelant celles de certains carabes ") [neuter]. Acamegonia Lapouge, 1924: 38. Type species: Acamegonia peregrinatrix incerta Lapouge, 1924 (= Calosoma eremicola Fall, 1910) by monotypy. Synonymy established by Bousquet and Larochelle (1993: 72).
