Distribution in surrounding states: SC ( Van Pelt and Gentry 1985 ), TN ( Dennis 1938 , Cole 1940 ) and VA ( Peck et al . 1998 ). According to Johnson (1988) and previous authors cited therein, Crematogaster laeviuscula is restricted to the western part of the United States . Records of C. laeviuscula or C. clara from North Carolina are probably C. pilosa (see discussion in Johnson 1988 ).
