This species can be distinguished from all other Neotropical Epirhyssa by the combination of the following characters: 1) mesosoma totally or almost totally blackish; 2) occipital carina weakly present, not joining hypostomal carina; 3) clypeus with the apical tubercle sharp; and 4) tergite II with longitudinal wrinkling. The species is very closely related to E. electronigra sp. n. (see the diagnosis and notes of the latter species). Distribution. Brazil , Peru . Material examined . Peru : Female ( UNSM , currently on loan to ZMUT ): Dept. of Cusco, Tono, 12°57’ S , 70°32’ W , 862 m . , Castillo leg., Malaise. Biological notes .This species is currently restricted to western Amazonia in mid altitude areas and is recorded for the first time from Peru .
