The taxonomic status of A. l. regina is problematic. Friese (1921) described A. regina based on a single female collected in Turkey , which differs from A. labiata only in the smooth mesonotum. Warncke and Grünwaldt each assigned different male forms to this taxon without providing a description (unpublished data). The female holotype cannot be unequivocally assigned to either of these male forms. Warncke (1974b) also relegated A. regina to a subspecies status. Our treatment of this taxon in the current manuscript follows his interpretation.
