Range: A school of 100 short-beaked whales was observed once in 2007 in the East Sea ( Cetacean Research Institute 2007 ), but compared to D. capensis , the short-beaked common dolphin is rare in Korean waters ( Fig. 104 ). Remarks: A discontinuity exists in the distribution of the central and northern stocks of the eastern Pacific short-beaked common dolphins ( Perrin et al ., 1985 ) as well as documented differences in average adult size, reproductive seasonality and genetics ( Chivers et al . 2003 ). Records of D. delphis before the 1990s mostly refer to D. capensis in the North Pacific Ocean ( Amano 2009a , b ). The Subspecies, D . d . delphis Linnaeus, 1758 inhabits the waters of Korea .
