Examined material. Argentina , La Plata. One paratype MNCN 16.01/9034. Expedition G– II 12, 38 º05’3’’S 57º22’W , coarse sand, coll. “Lobo” Orensanz col., 1975. Diagnosis. Robust body, up to 7.8 mm long. Trepan with 5–8 small, triangular teeth. Chaetae with long denticles on US of MF, reaching base of proximal tooth; MJP diagonal ( Fig. 2 C). Aciculae straight. Reproduction. Unknown. Host: The specimens were found in coarse sandy sediments, but the presence of sponge spicules on some worms suggested a possible association with a host sponge ( Paola et al . 2006 ). Distribution. SW Atlantic Ocean, La Plata, Argentina . Remarks. The long and numerous spines on US of MF of Haplosyllis loboi are similar to the serration of Trypanoseta sp. recently described by Aguado et al . (2008) . H. loboi is the unique species of Haplosyllis recorded from the SW Atlantic.
