The specimens of
Aspicilia geographica
and
A. microsporeta
are very similar (
Fig. 1G, H
) but Hue does not discuss the reason why did he separate these species. The most reasonable version, which is also marked in the name, is smaller spores of the latter. Our measurements (10.0) 11.4–[11.6]–11.9 (13.2) × (5.0) 6.1–[6.3]–6.6 (7.9) (n=10) in
A. geographica
and (9.0) 10.1–[10.4]–10.6 (11.8) × (5.0) 5.5–[5.8]–6.0 (6.6) (n=10) in
A. microsporeta
do not support this difference. Both specimens contain atranorin and confluentic acid, have N+ pinkish epihymenium, J+ medulla and therefore belong to
Lecanora oreinoides
. The species is widely distributed in the Pacific region (
Rambold 1989
) and has recently been found in
Korea
.
