Masandaran (an erroneous spelling of Māzandarān Prov.), Polur , Damavand , 2500 m , 7.–10.vii.1972 , Ebert & Falkner leg. , 1 ♀ , Macedonien , Ohrid-Prespasee , 3.–6.vi.1962 , H. Schiller leg. (ex. coll. H. Schiller ) . Distribution. Throughout Europe (excluding Great Britain and Ireland ), Iran : Gorgan, Hesarchal valley (Sardab valley), Mirabi Mt., and Nesa (Lederer 1871; Osthelder 1938 ; Toll 1948 ; Amsel 1961 ; Goater 2005 ). Remarks. Two of the three subspecies of this species viz., E. aenealis dimorphalis Osthelder, 1938 and E. aenealis obscura Toll, 1948 , have been described from Iran ( Osthelder 1938 ; Toll 1948 ; Goater 2005 ). The type localities of the former and latter subspecies are Hesarchal, Sardab valley in Elburz area ( Osthelder 1938 ) and Mirabi Mt. in NE Iran ( Toll 1948 ), respectively. The examined specimens have a gray forewing with yellowishbrown tint that match with E. aenealis dimorphalis .
