New record from New Guinea , based on NTUM 12307 ( 1 specimen , 86.6 mm SL, St. CP4446-12, north of New Hanover), NTUM 12308 ( 2 specimens , 133.8–182.3 mm SL, St. CP4439-17, northeast of New Hanover), NTUM uncat. ( 1 specimen , 77.3 mm SL, St. CP4447-19, north of New Hanover), and NTUM 12309 ( 1 specimen , 94.2 mm SL, St. CP4496-6, northwest of New Hanover). Distribution and habitat. New Ireland : 1.—General distribution: Indonesia east to Papua New Guinea , north to southern Japan , south to northern Australia and New Caledonia . Benthic, on the continental slope, 192–534 m depth. Marine. Remarks. This also represents a new depth record, as the species was previously known only to range down to 420 m depth. Two additional specimens were collected from off southwestern New Britain (NTUM material).
