Ecology: —Fairly common, terrestrial in wet and semideciduous forests; 400–1500(–2450) m. Notes: —A widespread, very distinctive, and probably isolated species; occasionally seen in cultivation. Unusual in the reddish young fronds and strictly opposite pinnae. Rhizomes short-creeping, nodose; rachises glabrous; blades 1-pinnate; pinnae ovate-deltate, subsessile or stalked 1–2 mm , glabrous, terminal pinna conform, sterile margins serrulate; sori 2 per pinna, borne on acroscopic and basiscopic margins, absent at bases and apices of pinnae; indusia linear, glabrous.
