Andrena
(
Ptilandrena
) cf.
campanulae
Viereck and Cockerell, 1914
Counties: Becker, Mahnomen, Pennington
Comments:
Andrena campanulae
was synonymized under
A. geranii
by
LaBerge (1977)
. However, specimens matching
A. campanulae
are distinct based on morphology and barcode data (
Gibbs
et al.
2023
, ZP and MA, unpublished), so we are treating it as a separate species, though we have not been able to examine any males or compare to the
holotype
. Females of
A
. cf.
campanulae
are similar to
A. geranii
, but they have the clypeus more regularly punctured, the abdomen is black rather than slightly metallic blue, and there is a weak posterior fringe on the propodeal corbicula (
Figure 5
). This species was previously reported from
Minnesota
as “
Andrena
(
Euandrena
)
n. sp.
aff.
geranii
” in
Lane
et al.
(2022)
.
