Record on halacarid mites: Gosse (1855) reported Vorticella sp. on legs of a halacarid mite Thalassarachna basteri (Johnston, 1836) , which erroneously was identified as Halacarus ctenopus Gosse, 1855 – cf. Bartsch 2001a ). Report of peritrich ciliates on halacarid mites without assigning to any genus or species: Chatterjee (1996) reported peritrichous ciliates on Rhombognathus scutulatus Bartsch and another Rhombognathus species known from Kovalam beach, Kerala, India. It was also reported that these ciliates were found on Rhombognathus species but not on co-occurring Copidognathus or Agauopsis species.
