Remarks.
The present specimen agrees well with the redescription of
P. conformis
by Komai (2004) except for the lack of a ventral median foramen of the carpus of the right cheliped. Komai (2004) believed that the presence of the foramen is diagnostic for
P. conformis
, but the present specimen shows that the character is possibly variable in this species. Similar variation in the presence or absence of the ventral foramen on the carpus of the right cheliped has been reported in
P. cavicarpus
(cf.
McLaughlin & Forest, 1999
).
