The first record of this family from the 
<collectingRegion id="B93563F3192EFFB6D10EFA3DFCFB4CEC" box="[774,892,1483,1509]" country="Ecuador" name="Galapagos" pageId="48" pageNumber="49">Galápagos</collectingRegion>
dates from 1996, collected at the base of Sierra Negra, where it was absent during a collecting expedition in 1989. In 2001, adults of this species were very abundant around inhabited and agricultural zones of Santa Cruz, especially on dung.
