Description.
Holotype
, male. Body length approximately
7.2 mm
. Generally black-brown (not metallic), forebody shiny, elytra slightly less shiny. Pilosity pale white, dorsal side with numerous distinct setae.
Clypeus anteromedially with short, erect, broad lobe; top angles slightly round; clypeogenal transition virtually continuous; genal border widely round; clypeofrontal transition with median callosity; cephalic surface with abundant, partly seta-bearing, distinct punctures. Vertex indistinctly raised. Eyes dorsally very narrow, with approximately 8 facet rows across widest point; ratio interocular distance / single maximum eye width approximately 22.

Pronotum strongly convex, midline hardly depressed, impunctate; anterior declivity broad, topped by extensive, anteriorly convergent protuberance; apex very shallowly bifid (dorsal view), with declivity laterally delimited by distinct cavity on either side; anterior section of lateral border weakly sinuate, anterolateral angle approximately 80°; posterior section of lateral border slightly sinuate; base immarginate; most of pronotal derm densely, distinctly punctate-setose but discal midline as well as anterolateral cavities virtually impunctate; discal punctures separated by 1–3 punctural diameters.
Elytral striae discally well defined, with distinct punctures, mostly separated by 2–4 times their diameter; interstriae slightly crenulate, almost flat, microreticulate (
x80
), with poorly-defined, scattered, abundant, setabearing, finely asperate punctures; punctation on lateral interstriae coarse, more rugulate. Elytral base slightly rufous.
Antennal club grayish brown. Metasternum with shallow midline impression; disc along midline impunctate; much of disc with sparse, fine, seta-bearing punctures; lateral wings with abundant seta-bearing, subocellate punctures.
Abdominal ventrites each with (somewhat irregular) transverse row of closely set seta-bearing punctures; juxta-elytral surface rufous. Pygidium almost matt; crowded with seta-bearing, subocellate punctures (somewhat rugulate); base marginate.

Legs brown. Protibia slender, distally slightly curved inwards, apex internally slightly produced (angular), with 3+(1) larger denticles (tip of some worn off); spur short, acuminate. Mesotibiae and metatibiae and their spurs unmodified (some worn off). Profemoral, mesofemoral, and metafemoral underside sparsely, finely punctatesetose. Approximate proportions metatarsomeres 1–5:
11/4/3
/2/4 (full spur in male
paratype
slightly shorter than tarsomere 1: proportion approximately 9).
Aedeagus,

(
paratype
).
Measurements in mm. Maximum width of head 2.1. Median length of pronotum (apart from protrusion) 2.3, maximum width 3.8. Sutural length of elytra 2.6, maximum width 4.0.
Variation and sexual dimorphism.
Body length 5.0–
7.5 mm
. Clypeal apex and pronotal gibbosity variably developed. Minor males may lack anteromedian clypeal lobe, looking like females.
Female
lacking anteromedian clypeal lobe. Clypeus rugulate-punctate. Clypeofrontal ridge present, weaklypronounced, curvilinear. Vertex with low, transverse costa. Pronotum more-or-less swollen anteromedially, otherwise unmodified. Legs different, protibia more robust, not curved, apex not produced; spur elongateacuminate.
Etymology.
The “bis-“ prefix has been added to the name of the related species,
scrutator
, meaning a second time.
