Remarks
. This species was insufficiently described based on a female from
Coccothraustes vespertinus
probably from
USA
(
Ewing 1911
). Its
holotype
is lost.
Morley & Shillinger (1937)

Chaddock (1941)

Moss (1979)
recorded this species from various North American passerines (more than 25 species), but most of these records are misidentifications (see present paper). We provide redescription of this species from the
type
host and
Loxia curvirostra
.
