Mud to coarse sand, broken shells, inside corals, amongst algae and seagrasses; intertidal and shallow waters ( San Martín 2005 ). The updated bathymetric range extends from shallow depths to 833 m depth. Distribution . In tropical and temperate waters of the three oceans ( Ruíz-Ramírez & Salazar-Vallejo 2001 ). The species is recorded for the first time in the Canary Islands .
