This species is similar to P. hapalaspis (Meyrick) but can be separated by the terminus of the socius bearing a hook-1ike process on the inner margin and the large triangular sacculus in the male genitalia, and the sterigma somewhat boat-shaped, the corpus bursae much longer than ductus bursae, and the signa small and spined in the female genitalia. In P. hapalaspis the terminus of the socius lacks a hook-1ike process; the cucullus is small, triangular, and right-angled dorsally; the sterigma is cup-shaped; the corpus bursae is slightly longer than ductus bursae; and the signa are long and horned.
