Munida irrasa
A. Milne-Edwards, 1880
Munida irrasa
has also been reported as
M. caribea
(see
Baba
et al.
2008
). This species has been reported from
Brazil
to the Gulf of
Mexico
to the southern coasts of New
England
in depths of
38 to 483 m
(
Milne-Edwards 1880
;
Smith 1883
;
Chace 1942
; de
Melo-Filho 2006
). In the collections,
228 specimens
were collected from the Caribbean and Gulf of
Mexico
. Six males, six females, and one ovigerous female were measured for this analysis. Male CW ranged from 4.0 to
8.3 mm
, non-ovigerous female CW ranged from
4 to 6.9 mm
; the ovigerous female had a carapace width of
6.8 mm
; males and females were not significantly different in size (t-test, df
=
11, t
=
- 0.583, p
=
0.572). The ovigerous female had
252 eggs
. In collections, specimens were collected in all months except October, November, and December; these were the same three months in which no ovigerous specimens were collected (
