Milne-Edwards, 1880 ) Munidopsis abdominalis has previously been reported as Elasmonotus abdominalis (see Baba et al. 2008 ). It ranges from French Guiana to the Gulf of Mexico in depths of 357 to 720 m ( Chace 1942 ; Takeda 1983 ). Three males (CW from 6.1 to 8.6 mm ) and one ovigerous female (CW = 7.9 mm ) of M. abdominalis were present in the collections; these specimens were from the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico in depths of 417 to 543 m .
