Thanatophilus ferrugatus
(
Solsky, 1874
)
]
Material examined.
None.
Remarks.
Species distributed in southern European parts of
Russia
,
Iran
and
Central
Asia (Růžička 2015).
Özdemir &
Sert
(2008)
reported this species from
Turkey
:
Ankara
. However, after comparison of their illustrations of the aedeagus with
Schawaller (1981)
and voucher specimens of
T. ferrugatus
and
T. terminatus
(
Hummel, 1825
)
deposited in the collection of Jan Růžička, we conclude that
Özdemir &
Sert
(2008)
misidentified their material, which in fact belongs to
T. terminatus
. The same probably apply to a record of
Altunsoy
et al.
(2017)
from
Eskişehir Province
. Therefore,
T. ferrugatus
is deleted from the Turkish fauna.
