Description of genitalia and associate structures
. Male genitalia (
Figs. 47–51
): median lobe of aedeagus (Figs. 47,48) strongly arcuate, slender, about 3 times as long as wide, greatest width at base, sides subparallel to near apex, anterior margin and anterior margin rounded, asetose; apodemes about 1.2 times as long as median lobe; internal sac with mictrotrichiae but without large sclerites. Tegmen (
Fig. 49, 50
) apex of manubrium (or apodeme) truncate. Sternite IX (
Fig. 51
) with spiculum gastrale broad, evenly curved.
FIGURES 24–29.
Heilipus gibbus
sp.nov.
, male paratype from São Bento do Sul, SC. Elytro-tergal stridulatory apparatus. (24) right elytron, ventral view, seta pointing subapical file, (25, 27) details of subapical file, (26) dorsum of tergite VII, (28, 29) setae pointing tubercles of plectrum tubercles on tergite VII.
FIGURES 30–34.
Heilipus gibbus
,
sp.nov.
, female paratype from Joinville, SC. (30) right elytron, ventral view, seta pointing region with granulose integument, not forming ridges, corresponding to file in males, (31, 33) setae pointing granulose surface of elytron, (32, 34) setae pointing dorsal area on tergite VII, without tubercles.
FIGURES 35–40.
Heilipus catagraphus
, male from Campinas, SP. (35) habitus, dorsal view, (36) habitus, lateral view, (37) head frontal view, (38) head lateral view, (39) detail of profemoral tooth, (40) ventrites.
Female genitalia (
Figs. 52
─55) Sternite VIII (
Fig. 55
) Y-shaped, apodeme very short, apex with anterior margin expanded and bisinuous. Coxites short (
Fig. 53
), about 3.2 times as long as wide; styli cylindrical, setose, elongate, about 2.2 times as long as wide (
Fig. 52
), articulated subapically to coxite; spermatheca (
Fig. 54
) with capsule well sclerotized, sickle-shaped, apex rounded, branches of similar size, gland lobe (ramus) and duct lobe (collum) about same length, approximate from each other by distance about as equal as length of duct lobe, gland of spermatheca rounded. Bursa copulatrix without sclerites.

avocado tree—
Persea americana
Mill. (Lauraceae)

Nectandra venulosa

to

, the weevil also develops in species of the family
Annonaceae
, "fruta-doconde"—
Annona squamosa
L. and "biribá", same common name for different species—
Rollinia deliciosa
Safford.

R. mucosa

identification of the weevils associated with the
Annonaceae
species should be checked as possible being
H. gibbus
