Order
NASSELLARIA
Ehrenberg, 1876
Phylogenetic Molecular Lineage I (
Sandin
et al.
2019
)
DIAGNOSIS. — Multi-segmented
Nassellaria
having a simple cephalis and discrete dividers between the subsequent segments below the thorax.
REMARKS
Lineage I is the oldest clade in the entire
Nassellaria
order as the molecular clock indicates that it may date back to the Devonian (
Sandin
et al.
2019
). Although only one genus
Eucyrtidium
was confirmed as a member of Lineage I,
Amphipyndacoidea
,
Archaeodictyomitroidea
and
Eucyrtidioidea
are likewise considered members of Lineage I. This inclusion is done because the huge number of studies devoted to them over the last century.
