robsoni
Pila robsoni
Prashad, 1925
: 85
, pl. 14, figs. 8, 9.
Type
material
—
holotype
[by original designation]: NZSI 2414;
paratypes
: NZSI 21546/4 (3 spms.).
Type
locality
—“Near Balapiti,
Ceylon
”.
Distribution
—
Sri Lanka
.
Remarks
.
Prashad (1925: 86)
gave a table of measurements of
4 specimens
(all referred to NZSI 2414), indicating that the
holotype
(“
Type
”) was by far the largest. The
3 specimens
in NZSI 21546/4 are from the same locality as the
holotype
and have been considered as
paratypes
in the NZSI. It seems likely that the
holotype
was removed from the original
type
series and retained the original
catalogue
number, with the remaining
3 specimens
given the new number NZSI 21546/4.

Cowie & Thiengo (2003: 74)
followed Swainson (1822b: un-numbered text page, pl. 120) and others in treating
rugosa
G.B. Sowerby I
(1822: un-numbered text page, pl. [184], figs. 1–2), clearly a species of
