Nellia oculata Busk, 1852 (Plate 2b) Locality: Sachana, Jamnagar, Gujarat , 22 o .34.00.5’ N Substratum : Dead coral rubble Description: Colony is erect, delicate, variously branching reaching up to length of 5cm and with rootlets anchoring to a substratum. Internodes are distally greater in length and tapering proximally, square sectioned usually four or five autozooids on each face with alternating back-to-back pairs, dividing dichotomously with nodes consisting of slender cuticular tubes. Autozooids elongate, distal region of the preceding autozooid overarches the proximal portion of the succeeding one. Operculum large and occupies the distal region. Well-developed gymnocyst produces a raised mural rim giving the autozooid the shape of a boat. Cryptocyst is smooth, better developed proximally than laterally.Two raised adventious avicularia positioned frontally on large proximal area of gymnocyst.
